(California Highway Patrol Releases updated information)...The information is on the fata injury collision Saturday night.

The incident involved 4 vehicles on Highway 111 north of McCabe Road. At around 9 pm, a 51-year-old Brawley resident was driving a 1996 Toyota north on the Highway. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered to the left, traveled through the center median and into the southbound lanes of 111. As a result, the Toyota collided into a Ford F-150 being driven by 39-year-old Juan Gomez from El Centro. The CHP says 49-year-old Marco Ballesteros from Mexicali was unable to take evasive action and his Volkswagen collided with the pickup. 28-year-old Brenda Castro from Fontana driving a 2023 Toyota, turned to the left in an attempt to avoid the collision. Her vehicle traveled through the dirt center median and across the northbound lanes of the Highway, where she collided with a barbed wiire fence. The Brawley driver suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The others were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment. All except the Brawley man were wearing their seatbelts. The investigation into the collision continues.
