A Taskforce of imperial Valley firefighters and equipment has responded to the Border 2 Fire in San Diego.

The fire broke out Thursday near the International Border in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego County. The fire quickly exploded to over 5,000 acres and caused evacuations and school closures in the area. The local task force includes personnel and equipment from Imperial County Fire Department and the cities of Holtville, El Centro and Brawley as well as Morongo Fire and Viegas Fire. The equipment includes 4 Type-6 off-road capable engines, 1 water tender. The Border 2 Fire was only 10 percent contained by Friday night.
