The Area Port of San Luis had a busy week.

U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Arizona port of entry stopped a car crossing from Mexico and driven by a 23-year-old man, at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The driver was referred to secondary inspection where non-intrusive technology revealed anomalies in the floor of the car. A K-9 Team alerted to the vehicle and a search led to the discovery of over 117 pounds of methamphetamine hidden under the carpet on the floor.

A second seizure occurred on Thursday at about 11:30 p.m., when CBP officers stopped a northbound truck driven by a 42-year-old Mexican citizen, a Legal Permanent Resident. The driver and truck were referred to secondary inspection after a K-9 Team alerted to the vehicle. Non-intrusive technology revealed anomalies in a speaker box in the truck. A search led to the discovery of 69 pounds of cocaine concealed in the speaker box.

CBP said the combined value of the seized drugs is over $800,000. Both drivers were turned over to U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
