(El Centro Police Department plans a DUI Checkpoint)...It will be held on February 16th.

The checkpoint will be set-up at the intersection of Dogwood Road and Dannenberg Drive. The hours of operation will be from 6 pm to 2 am. The Police Department says DUI checkpoint locations are selected based on data showing high incidences of impaired driving-related crashes. The goal of the checkpoint is to increase public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road. El Centro Police Chief Robert Sawyer says impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. He says any prevention measuress that reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roads significantly improves traffic safety.
