Dogwood Elementary School Principal Darlene Herrera has been recognized.

Herrera was named as the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 18 Administrator of the Year. According to ACSA, the award recognizes outstanding school leaders who demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact within their educational communities. Juan Cruz, Superintendent of Heber Elementary School District, " Her unwavering commitment to educational excellence and student wellbeing is truly inspiring". Under her guidance, Dogwood Elementary School has flourished, earning distinction as a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase School according to Cruz.
