The Dominican Republic won the Caribbean Series championship Friday night.

The Leonas del Escogido of the Dominic Republic shut out the Charros de Jalisco from Monterrey, Mexico for the championship. Four Leonas pitchers tossed a one-hit shutout at the Charros, previously unbeaten in the series. The Dominican team, managed by Albert Pujols, scored the games only run when Robinson Cano grounded into a double play with the bases loaded in the top of the third inning. The game was played at Nido de las Aguilas Stadium in Mexicali, Baja California.
