A 28-year-old Calexico man is in jail after trying to cash a fraudulent check.
Calexico Police responded to a local check-cashing business last Thursday. The business told officers that a man was attempting to cash another bad check. Officers were told that the man had successfully cashed a fraudulent check for over $1,100 just a few days earlier. Officers identified Andrew Leyva as the suspect. Leyva was found with several modified checks and a concealed replica firearm. Leyva was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail for Check Fraud. The investigation continues.
