A man wanted for a double homicide was shot dead by officers serving an arrest warrant.

Shortly after noon Wednesday, U. S. Marshals with assistance from Yuma County Sheriff's deputies, Yuma Police, and the U. S. Border Patrol attempted to serve the arrest warrant at a residence in the 10-200 block of East 37th Street. The suspect named in the warrant was wanted for a double homicide in Tucson, Arizona. During the service of the warrant, two unrelated individuals came out of the residence, but the suspect stayed in the house, refusing to comply with officers demands. The suspect then stepped out of the house armed with a rifle and fired multiple rounds at officers. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect, David McKinney, 48, of Tucson. The Yuma Regional Critical Incident Response Team was activated to investigate the shooting.The YCSO deputies involved in the incident have been placed on modified duty.
