(Border Patrol agents seize 51 pounds of methamphetamine)....The San Diego area agents inspected a Red Toyota Pick-up recently.
The vehicle had entered the checkpoint on Highway 94, east of San Diego. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area after a K-9 unit alerted to the vehicle. The initial visual search of the pickup resulted in nothing suspicious. Agents conducted a mobile x-ray scan of the vehicle. The scan revealed anomalies in the spare tire area of the vehicle. Agents inspected the spare tire and found 48 packages of what later tested positive for methamphetamine. The packages weighed 51 pounds with an estimated street value of $175,000. The driver was placed under arrest and the case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
