A Winterhaven school was locked down on Friday.
Imperial County Sheriff's deputies responded to San Pasqual Elementary School shortly before 1:00 p.m. Friday. School staff had reported that they had heard that an elementary school-aged student may have a firearm in his backpack. No direct threats were reported but, as a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown. Deputies, assisted by the Quechuan Tribal Police Department and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection firearm detection K-9, searched the campus. No firearms were located and the lockdown was lifted. During the investigation, one individual was arrested for child endangerment and booked into Imperial County Jai. That case remains open and the investigation continues.
