(El Centro Police arrest a suspect)....The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

The assault was reported Thursday. Police say the suspect confronted the victim and struck him several times with a metal pole. The investigation in the incident determined the suspect was a Holtville resident. It also determined the suspect had a firearm registered to him and that he had an active warrant for his arrest. El Centro police put together a team and went to Holtville to arrest the suspect. The suspect, who was not identified, was found and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into county jail, charged with assault with a deadly weapon and the outstanding warrant. There was no information on the extent of the injuries to the victim.
