)Pioneers Memorial Hospital District has dissolved)...It is now part of the Imperial Valley Healthcare District.

As of January 21st, PMHD's assets, rights and responsibilities were transferred to Imperial Valley Healthcare District. The transfer was stipulated in AB 918. Pioneers had appealed the Assembly Bill, but the court did not rule in their favor. AB 918 created one Healthcare District and includes El Centro Regional Medical Center, Heffernan Memorial Healthcare District and now PMHD. Also on January 21st the IVHD appointed Christopher R. Bjornberg as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly unified Healthcare District.. Bjornberg had served as the CEO at PMHD before being fired by the PMHD Board of Trustees in September. The IVHD held a board meeting Thursday at Pioneers Memorial Hospital to explain the dissolution to PMH employees and the community.
