El Centro Police officers took another gun off the streets Sunday.
Day shift officers attempted to stop a subject riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the street. The suspect tried to flee but was taken into custody after a brief chase. The suspect, a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a stolen Glock 19 handgun. The handgun was one of the items reported stolen in a recent burglary. ECPD detectives responded to the scene and were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspects residence. Police executed the search warrant and found a stolen bulletproof vest, ammunition, holsters, and binoculars that are also stolen in the burglary. The suspect was booked into Imperial County Jail on multiple charges.
