They indicate unemployment in Imperial County was lower in January as compared to how it ended in 2024. The numbers are provided by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. They indicate Imperial County unemployment began 2025 at 17.9%. That is down from the revised 18.5% reported for December.. It was unchanged from the year ago numbers. This compares to an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.5% for the state of California and 4.4% for the nation during the same period. According to the latest report their were 13, 200 eligible workers unemployed in January out of a Labor Force of 73,500.. Imperial County tied with Colusa County for the highest unemployment in the state in January.
